    Just great, another top notch FA getting franchised... It shows these teams manage money well (hear that Floyd Reese??????), so they have space to tag... Could have to do with the extended salaryu cap too... Anways it's not official yet they'll tag him, but it looks that way...

    I hate the fact that all this franchising due to salary cap increase happens to come at the time when we actually have some $$$$ to spend.

    Think about that for a second, the increase in the cap also contributed a lot to how much money we have to spend, you can't have it both ways

    We DON'T have to spend all our cap. Seems smarter to fill a few gaps with short term contracts until a bumper crop FA year.

    We don't get to carry over CAP we don't spend so we need to focus on extending players we want to keep now so they will not have huge CAP hits in the future. Give some bonus money to guys like Roos and have it all count this year. That extends his contract, uses the CAP now keeping CAP the next few years free.

    Exactly!!!

    We're not looking to sign 5 Pro Bowlers. 2 would be nice especially if we can front load there contracts and have a lot of their future cap hit taken up this season to free up our cap in the future. So instead of everyone's contracts getting bigger, we have to of our bigger contracts getting smaller.

    Let's see...Clements is available and a 2 time Pro Bowler...

    We'll see if Thomas gets tagged (another Pro Bowler)....

    Try him at DE...if that doesn't work, MLB and move him around. He's basically good at everything.

    Thomas as MLB and less NB, would that make sense to anyone? Of course not Schwartz, but a player like Thomas could open up for new, wierd formations to confuse the opposition.
