I'm not gonna call out any users specifically, but I think we've all seen the posts.

Fitzpatrick has extremely limited upside. He can win a few games, but he can't win a Super Bowl. My personal philosophy is that it's never a good idea to roll with that kind of QB. You have to put your money on the guy with the real upside. Maybe he fails, but then you move your money to another guy with that upside. You're just spinning your wheels if you roll with a C+ guy like Fitzpatrick as your starter.

Lets say Locker is a disaster in the pre-season and the Titans start the regular season 0-4. At that point, I'd rather just see the team tank than try to turn it around and go 8-8 with Fitzpatrick and miss out on the chance to draft an elite franchise QB to replace Locker.

Ah I've been skimming a lot lately so I've either missed or forgotten if anyone is actually wanting him to start over Locker.

If Dilfer can win a superbowl so can Fitzmagic, and much in the same way. By being a piece of the puzzle but not the leader or reason why we would win.

I never want us to tank the season.

Fair enough. Just a difference of philosophy. I agree that tanking would be extremely hard to stomach. But I think the Dilfer thing is a one-in-a-thousand chance. If Locker fails, I want Bridgewater leading this team next year. Enough with the mediocrity. I would bet everything I own that Fitzpatrick will never win a Super Bowl as starter. I'd probably even bet it all that he'll never win a playoff game. We've seen his peak and it's nowhere near good enough.

There is one big thing which has me optimistic on Fitzy. He never had the best pass protection in Buffalo. Especially at OT. Pass protection there ranged from below average to horrible during those years. He may fair better with better pass protection.

I'm not calling for Fitzy to start either, but I believe he is a lot better than many of you guys think he is. Look at the past four seasons at Buffalo.. that team never had a consistent running game, and never had a reliable defense. Their only hope was to win shootouts, and Fitz did a decent job doing that. Yeah he threw a lot of picks, but many of this picks were late in the game when his team was down several scores. The poor guy was just tying to make a play when no one else would. He still has thrown 11 more TDs than picks in his career, even in spite of all those picks he throws when the game is out of hand.

So we have this guy who has all the tools of a franchise QB, and he has slung the ball for 300-400 yards numerous times in games. Now give him a solid running game, an amazing O-line, and a good defense. You still think this guy has no chance to succeed? You're crazy.

I have watched most Bills games over those seasons. And you are right. Fitzy did do a decent job. And he is a decent QB. The first couple years he had piss poor pass protection. And it only got a little better. The last three years he only had one good WR to throw to. He also had bonehead coaches calling plays.

The trouble is decent does not cut it when it comes to being a starting QB in the NFL. Fine for a backup but not for a starter. And Fitz has pretty much plateaued. He is not going to progress and become a star at this point.

Overall the guy is a success story. He does not have a ton of athletic ability or a big arm and was a seventh round pick from Harvard. He has managed to carve out a good career for himself as an NFL QB. Something most who attempt fail miserably at.

My bad, scratch that. It is SureThing. I get them confused for their unhealthy affection for CJ.
