I cried for 3 hrs after Argentina beat Team USA. I had 400 bucks on that game. Manu Ginóbili you suck! George Karl too.

Aaaargh! You're such a dick. :)) You started the thread... was I not to respond. I had no real vested interest in the game and I thought my reply was fairly reasoned (admitting the US was deserving of the win, admitting that Canada pretty much sucks when it comes to competing with the rest of the world and that our government squandered countless taxpayer dollars in the name of "owning the podium").

With your griping in mind here's my amended post

America is #1 baby. I'm sure you guys have the hockey gold all wrapped up.

    Better?

    :monkey: :))

You should have donated that money to help starving kids get healthcare instead of on sports...what kind of example are you setting for governments??...:grrhee:

Umm, TB man, that quote was not directed at your response. I did start the thread, and the response was excuse making and downplaying, but not by you. I'm not trying to be a dick, I think I've been pretty civil. But you anger towards me is kinda making me think what I said is more true than I thought...

You did specifically quote me when making the comments, so I did think they were directed at me, but regardless I used a smiling face after calling you a dick. Don't you ever call a buddy a dick after he busts your balls? So I decided to bust you balls in kind (including dancing monkies and smiling faces so as my ball busting couldn't be mistaken for serious).

Don't go back pedaling on me, leaf-waving buoy. You can't handle the red white and blue...

How can I claim basketball was invented by a Canadian? Well, the main reason why I can claim that is that basketball was invented by a Canadian. Naismith was born in Canada, stayed in Canada for the first 30 years of his life and then moved to the US. He invented basketball within his first year in the US. I'd say he was still pretty Canadian at that point. The fact that he eventually became a naturalized American doesn't really apply.

If everyone who moves to the US immediately loses their entire nationality, then I guess I just don't understand how nationality works. I guess that means Nickelback is American now! Awesome. Celine Dion, too. God, you Americans have really crappy music.

No one in this thread said that Canada losing in hockey had anything to do with population. Someone (me) suggested that population may have to do with overall medal count (which the stats overwhelmingly show that it does). Please don't warp what's been said in this thread to suit your arguments. I like discussing this stuff (and hopefully you do, too), but I'm not gonna waste time with someone who intentionally warps what I've said just to win a message board argument.

And for the record, I'd love to see you prove that the US didn't whine and cry when the basketball team lost. That's not what I remember. The few people who actually cared about that tournament (maybe you weren't one of them) were pretty embarrassed.

The more I think about it, we all should go curling together. It will ease all this cross-border tension.
