Baltimore cannot get homefield advantage. They've lost 5 games, and we can only lose 4.
Yea, as much as I'd like to lock up HFA now, I think the Ravens and the Giants are the only teams that can go toe-to-toe with the Titans on any week. Ravens have a mean 3-4 that has us figured out. Let PIT knock them out and it would be great for us to have HFA on the line with PIT coming to town next week. After playing DET, CLE and HOU I think it would be good to have a playoff-atmosphere game to get our feet wet before it really counts.
Couldn't you spin the 'battle hardened' argument to go against them just as easy?
The Giants have been coasting as well, but I doubt it's a sign that they'll struggle in the postseason.
Teams with good defense don't need home field to win. We have learned that the hard way.
I think the steelers are more battle hardened without question but by the time we play them in the post season that won't be the case.
Bottom line is matchups - and the Steelers don't match up very well against the Titans... Jets aren't as "good" as the Steelers but they have the formula to beat us, and I was much more worried about that game than about PIT.
On offense, their O-line just can't match up. If Big Ben tries to turn it into a sandlot game he's going to lose it. On defense, they are very talented, obviously - but they have the same weakness our D has... that if you are patient and don't try to force the big play you can wear them down. What the Jets did to us we should be able to do to their D. And in a battle of the top 2 scoring defenses, the kicking game and turnovers always decides the winner. Titans should have the advantage on both fronts.
The key with the Steelers is shutting down their run game. If you do that and force Big Ben to throw, you have a very good chance of winning, as Big Ben eats a lot of sacks
NOOOOOOO! they are not more battle-hardened! Only additional game of significance is NY Giants, all others equal. So, how's one game gonna make a dif?
They've had to battle harder to win than the Titans have...
