Well, one day I was playing madden franchise mode. Of course I resigned Kerry Collins. I was left deciding what to do about the future QB position. I meant to temporarily sign a free agent to keep my backup QB depth strong ...

Anyway, I chose Tyler Thigpen. Shortly after, I realized how great a decision this could be for our franchise. He's young, mobile, seems intuitive, throws well, and made progress for an apparently untalented team. One thing I would like to point out is the consistent pass rush he faced due to a mediocre offensive line. The Titans pass blocking is among the leagues best I would argue. I would love to see how successful he could be behind our line.

I will leave the means of acquiring him to you, but I am interested in what some of you think about my suggestion.

If you ever want a suggestion to be taken seriously, don't start with 'I was playing Madden'.

It's definitely an interesting suggestion, but this idea should probably stay within the realms of Madden 2009.

If we could swap VY for Thigpen, do it. No question about it... but that wouldn't happen.

That's what I thought at first, but does it not have you thinking?... at least a little bit?

When I first saw the opening statement, I figured this was going to be similar to when a poster claimed that our returner, Mark Jones, is bad because of his rating in Madden.

I'm not saying Thigpen is the answer, but he sure as hell would be better than VY... and cheaper.

Just letting you know the way the idea came to me. By the way, I dont think his rating is over 80 so his rating is not what persuaded me. I liked his production on the field. The only problem with that was his TD/INT ratio which is why I mentioned the offensive line situation.

He reminds me of a more dedicated Tony Romo.

I agree with the VY part of that. I mean, Thigpen can scramble, too. He wasn't god awful like Vince. Not a BAD suggestion.

Wait a minute... Are you actually using Madden to compare him... you talk about Madden and jump straight into talking about his production. Please tell me you're not talking about his production in the video game. This actually wasn't a bad suggestion, but if you're basing it solely on a video game it's pretty foolish.

I liked his on-field performance in real life. If he hadn't come in against us when we played the Chiefs, we would have seen our first shutout since '00.

He put up impressive numbers last season especially for a guy who had never started a game before. The TD/INT ratio is not a problem at all, so that's why I'm wondering why you said that... was his TD/INT ratio bad in Madden? In 11 starts, 18 TDs and 12 INTs is pretty good. The INTs were a bit high, and his completion percentage (54.8%) is extremely low.

I can see how he reminds you of Tony Romo, but how do you know he's more dedicated? Was his morale rating higher than Romo's?

The Chiefs brought in Matt Cassel because he protects the ball and makes good decisions (which is what Scott Pioli wants). They knew what they had in Thigpen -- a guy who can sling it but who will make poor decisions and turn the ball over.

He is not the right quarterback for the system the Titans run.

He's only been in the league for two seasons. He was practically a rookie this season. The guy played in one game in '07, and didn't even start until 6 weeks into the '08 season. As of right now, there's no way in hell he can start for us now, but what's the master plan after Kerry retires? Vince Young?!
