As longs as he avoids the words "about" and "been" he should be home free here. Those words are the key words that are a Canadian giveaway. Otherwise, they may just think he's from Wisconsin or something.
Pronouncing it "bEEn" actually makes sense. "abOOt" doesn't, to me at least. When a Canadian stubs their toe, do they say "OOch?"
But at least he's not speaking French like those damn Quebecians/Quebecer-peckers. I don't know if Quebecer-peckers is an established nickname, but It is now.
more importantly, don't apologize for anything. if you do feel the need to apologize, be sure to turn it around and ask for an apology.
