    I’m gonna argue this point a little.
    Not only is it Xmas eve, at a Xmas party, but the classic “now I have a gun, ho,ho,ho” really nails it.
    The end of the movie music, “oh the weather outside is frightful.....”

    The reporter even brings up Xmas morning when trying to ask the McLain kids questions.
    It’s misleading due to being in LA and and action movie, but (even though I’ll watch this year round) I think it is very much an Xmas movie.

    Now that you mention it, Home Alone 1/2 have a glaring absence of molly ringwald.

    There is some Xmas spirit in their too.
    Ellis gives John’s wife a Rolex.
    Ms. Gennero offers her home as a free place to stay for John McClain while visiting LA. He also brought a giant teddy bear gift.

    Last, John McClain saves around 100 innocent people out of the kindness of his heart. Very few people are able to do such a thing on Xmas. That is a great gift.

    Yeah I've seen all/most of those points made before. I still think that's really reaching to try to qualify it as a Xmas move. No biggie though. If you consider it a Xmas movie then it's a Xmas movie to you.

    It really never mattered to me. The movie is awesome enough to watch any time of year, it just happens to be a Xmas party.
