I think both Sony and Microsoft are both reaching with this motion controller B.S. The fact that Wii has been embraced by the casual markets is a testament to who what audience that appeals to. Most hobbyist (the next most prevalent demographic) and hardcore (probably the smallest, albeit loyal) could give two ****s about motion controllers. Unless, however, the motion controllers truly are revolutionary in their applications, with genuine implications (like more precise handling for a racing sim, for instance).

I don't see any of the coming-gen controllers doing that. Waste of time, waste of money IMO.

Indeed, I just hope games are not sacrificed for the sake of this.

That's sort of my point. I just don't see the core audiences of Microsoft or Sony biting on this. While I don't think this will blow up in either of their respective faces, it surely is not what either creative departments should be focusing on.

I thought Heavy Rain utilized the motion controller on the PS3 very well. Completely pulled me into the game and if there is anything else like that in the future I'm all for it.

SIX Axis is a little different to complete motion control like Move or Natal.

I had actually considered buying a Wii for awhile, so I'm excited to see what PS3 comes out with because I'll probably buy that instead.

Move will be a (much better) version of Wii-motion. It's tracking is incredible (I will give them that).

ps3 is coming out with something to counter Natal?

They're not countering Natal, it's to counter the Wii, as Natal is brought out (and will fail) to do.

Eye toy was good enough for Microsoft to copy it.
