Conk>Decker...I stand by that...and Jrob. Could care less what anyone else thinks or says. He was a hell of a rookie. We should be lucky that we didn't crap the bed on him like Warmack and so many others...Also, Decker was not as polished or coveted as Conk at the combine or after. Ya never know what these guys will do at the next level. It's a crap shoot my friends.

Stupid ass post to be complaining about drafting a guy who was an all pro his rookie year. Just because he plays RT now doesn't mean he doesn't have the skills to be a LT. Also if you haven't noticed good defenses have multiple good pass rushers so the difference between LT and RT is not as great as it used to be. You better be solid at both spots if you want to keep your QB upright.

Lewan and Conk will be key next year against certain defenses we play twice that have Watt and Clowney.

also, God forbid this happens, but if Lewan goes down, seasons not over. Conklin should be able to slide right in at LT and look almost as good

most teams dont have that luxury...

I think it comes down to position. The offensive line is just not sexy. People want dynamic play makers in the first round, guys who put up stats. As such taking a first round OL for the third time in four years was hard enough for some guys to stomach. It made it even harder when we traded up to do so.

You also have to look at the psychology of trading up from a fan perspective. We are all, to some extent, draft geeks and like to obsess over picks. So the more picks the better. Trading up means fewer picks which means, in our eyes, fewer chances at greatness. Even though the success rate of draft picks beyond the first round is not good, those picks still could have potentially turned into a star.

Bottom line, fans love trading down and getting picks while they generally hate trading up and giving up picks.
