Next year has better top end talent. Johnston is the worst #1 WR prospect I've ever seen. Obvious bust. The #1 tackle prospect has T Rex arms and is likely a guard. The others are projects. If Carter or Anderson fall for some reason, they would justify the pick. But I think at this pick, the top talent will be gone. It would be great for a team like the Giants or the Jags to try to trade up for a WR, and for us to reap the rewards next year when those teams come down to earth
Yeah I'm no longer interested in Johnston. He looks like the part, but he's too slow and not as fast as they claim. Plus he was an absolute ghost vs UGA. I'd stay clear away from him.
"proven with the past"? Of the last 29 Super Bowl winners: 17 had first round QBs. Of the 12 champions with non-first round QBs: 7 by Brady and 1 was Favre who was pick 33. I disagree entirely that we've somehow proven top-end QBs aren't the right move just because we didn't hit. We also drafted Panda at OT in the first and that set us back. Does that mean we stop drafting OT? No it was just a bad pick. It doesn't have to be a top 10 pick but personally the 2 at the top are the only ones I'd want this year. Which is why I think trade up or trade out and do it next year. At some point we have to get a good qb that can carry this team. You keep swinging if you want to win rings. And they definitely aren't a sure thing. But what is sure is we are not winning any rings with tannehill and a *slightly* better OL. He's declining and will be 35 next year.
Depends on what you're looking for. This draft has some very deep at DL, Edge, CB, QB, and RB. The WR class I would still say is a deep class overall, only it lacks true freaks like recent drafts have had. It's pretty a poor class for Safety, TE, OL, and off-ball LB.
Our needs hardly ever line up with the strength of the draft. That's just life as a Titans fan. We needed WR in 2017, took the top WR at 5 Corey Davis. When the Bengals need a WR at 5, they get Jamar Chase. Dolphins get Waddle a pick later. When it was our turn to have the #1 and #2 picks overall, the QBs available were Mariota, Wentz, and Goff. The Jags and Bengals get Lawrence and Burrow when they have a top pick. It's odd how this always seems to happen and I'm not sure why it plays out like this, but the draft gods never seem to be on our side.
It always sounds that way from year to year. “Next years draft is loaded…” Next year comes and “ This is the worst draft in 30 years.”
I agree. He gets caught from behind quickly and frequently, and doesn't get open on deep routes. His speed is a total fallacy. He hasn't demonstrated good ball skills, either. Very few plays where he wins at the catch point. He's got good size, good twitch, but no juice and very little in the way of translation WR characteristics.
