This is a disturbing video to say the least, but to be a little fair to the seemingly apathetic onlookers, emergency operators said they rec'd six 911 calls from cell phones within sixty seconds of the accident taking place. EMT's were on scene in less than 4 minutes.

It is strange how people seem so hesitant to directly engage strangers (even when in distress). There's a fascinating documentary (the name of which of course escapes me) on how this has become a real problem in Finnish culture. It showed scenes at bars where people all just sit by themselves quietly like wallflowers at a highschool dance before quietly trudging home on the bus. I guess the birth rate in Finland has declined dramatically over the past few decades, so much so that the government is offering cash incentives for Fins to breed. Cool flick... This just in, we're an odd species.

Also, the guy got run over, and so I bet bystanders were hesitant to go back into the street. It makes you more aware of the risks. Then again, that still doesn't excuse those bystanders. How was the guy?

I've heard before stories of bystanders helping a victim and later being sued by that victim if something they did led to further injury.

But there is no excuse for not going out there and keeping other cars from hitting the guy.

It's not about touching the victim, because sometimes moving someone without having proper training can cause even more damage. It's about no one even getting out in the street and even checking on him, or getting into the street to make sure he isn't hit while incapacitated.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder where that car who hit him was going. Must of been some where real important....I mean he/she didn't even stop, he just went right through, I swear i can see 2 people in the back seat look back.

    My guess is teenagers...
