SUMMARY: Despite maturity issues and only gaining 244 yards behind veteran Travis Henry, RB LenDale White says he'll be ready to compete for the top RB job next season. "My plan next year is to come in and compete for the starting job," White said. "It's nothing against Travis Henry at all, but I plan on playing and playing a lot next year, that's what I want to do." White didn't benefit from an offseason conditioning program last year because of injuries. "Now I want to be a part of us keeping things going as a team," White said. "Earlier in the year nobody gave us a shot to barely win three games, but things changed. Everybody wanted to see what Vince could do. They wanted to see what we all could do. We took a big step and now we all have to come back stronger than ever next year."

Why does this article keep talking about how we missed out on Hester like we don't have the OTHER best return specialist in the league!? And our guy actually plays a position too! Lendale will get better. Never underestimate the value of training camp! Kind of a stupid article. Would've liked Colston though in the 7th.

Get into the weight room and get ripped if you want to compete.

First off, for us, hester may have just been a waste of space on the gameday roster because he doesnt do anything else, why would we need him when we have Pacman Jones who finished with a better average on punt returns. I'd say pacman is even better than hester is because if you watch the returns by both, you'll see Pacman making A LOT of people miss, wicked cut backs, and reversing fields to set up defenders into being blocked, Hester sure had good returns but was given better blocking and all his returns were straight line speed. Anyway Before Lendale even gets the starting job we will bring in someone else to compete with him. IMO he didn't look in shape this season, he didnt really look like much of athelete out there that could take the ball the distance on any given play, which he probably never will but hopefully after this offseason he will come in being in much better shape and who knows...but i doubt he unseats Travis.

He can start in the weight room and on the track. Then he might have a chance on the field.

Are we bringing Travis back for sure?

i belive in lendale and i think he will stay true to his word and get in shape for next season. like i said in aother thread about lendale, its great hes around vince cause thats just gonna motivate him even more to take his game to the next level. im glad to hear hes wants to get better, just makes me look forward to next season even more. as for hester who knows he could be a flash in the pan this yr. pac man is better overall i think.

LenDale is young buck... give him some playing time(like Vince) and he'll progress his game by getting used to the nfl game speed. He deffinately needs to hit up the weight room, he looks a little fat or something to me. I remember them talking about him during the draft that he had lost all this weight and stuff, but to me it looks like he gained and just got lazy. I believe he will have his best chances with the Titans, lets just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Ron Dayne.

edit: Also, knowing the way Fisher has been with our rookies he'll have faith with him like Pac-Man, Vince, Finnegan, Ahmard... He's just gotta show his strengths, this team is full of young talent.

Lendale strikes me as a guy for whom athletic success has always been relatively easy....a guy who was always one of the biggest, fastest guys on the field. Now he's in the NFL, and it takes a lot more than just talent to be successful. Not that he doesn't have talent...he clearly does....but now he has to truly focus on improving himself. No more coasting, or showing up only on gameday.

Fortunately, he's surrounded by some very driven individuals. Two of his closest friends on the team are VY and Pacman, both of whom have a very strong work ethic, and are very committed to getting the most out of their abilities. (Let's just hope that Pacman is also committed to keeping himself out of trouble.)

I believe next year will be critical for Lendale...and we'll know pretty quickly whether he's up to the challenge. His rookie year as a whole was a bit anticlimactic, but we saw flashes of what he can do. Many of the questions surrounding Lendale are the same questions we had after Pacman's rookie year; if Lendale can step up his game the way Pacman did, the sky's the limit.

In the next two years no doubt we will bring in another young running back to compete with LeDale though...someone like Darren McFadden wouldn't be bad...

If we are in position to draft McFadden next year it will be because White is a bust. We should hope White takes his job seriously and we don't have to use another early draft pick on a RB for a few years.
