Yes, Roman was the OC when Walker was with the 49ers. He also was the OC when Harbaugh was the coach at Stanford and then he followed him to the 49ers.

I really didn't want this to be just a thread about Roman, but more a thread about what Ruston's vision is for the team. I see it this way. He drafted a QB who is mobile, a possession WR, a deep threat WR, a power blocking OG in Warmack, a highly rated run blocking OG in Levitre, and Walker who is an athletic TE.

Just looking at the moves involving the OL, I think that Webster wants a run game based mainly on pulling, trapping, and power over a zone scheme. So in my mind that would probably rule out a guy like Kubiak who is a zone scheme guy. I have always liked Kubiak's offense with the bootlegs and screen passes. I could see Locker fitting his type of offense, but not our OL.

Or was Webster drafting to what Munch wanted and he really doesn't care what type of team we are but just wants a solid scheme he can draft towards.

Building a run-first team would be stupid.

Roman and Bevell would my top choices ... both come have had success working with young mobile QBs, so they may have success with locker if they choose to keep him. Both come from run heavy offenses as well...

I know I know, its a passing league. Even the Saints went balanced for a change when it counted. Pulled out the running game. Majority of playoff teams are in top of league rushing. Just gets on my nerves that so many people dont see this. They hear NFL network say its a passing league, therefore we must chuck it around the yard. Gets on my nerves. Yea, the rules say you cant defend the pass anymore or hit the QB, but there is still plenty to be said for imposing your will on a team with the run game. The playoff teams prove it by the numbers.

I wouldn't care for a run first team, but can we please get a running back that can consistently get 3-4 yards a carry
