What exactly is wrong with L. Thompson?

He seems mentally out of the game to me sometimes. Everybody else out there will be playing their hearts out an he's the one whos falling backwards on the tackle instead of comine up for the stick. Everybody else is diving to make plays and he's sortof running around the action. And he just seems to be in the wrong place alot. I just think we can do alot better. Hope showed me what a difference a good safety can make.

Does Lamont start for any other team in the league?

 

He admits himself he was a step behind last year....and this year showed no big change for the better. Looks like he takes bad angles sometimes in run support. But bad coverage, that's the killer.

Not so odd anymore that the Bengals spent a 2nd rnd pick on him and released him only a year later.

 

He gets burned more than anyone else on our D. He was just plain out of place several times this year, and it cost us big. Sorry I can't bring in particular instances, but he consistently makes COSTLY errors. If we could only change one starter, that would be my choice. He sometimes makes a big play, but not nearly as many as he gives up.

 

Thompson always seems to be a step or two behind the the rest of the guys on the field. He often appears a bit slow to recognize the play unfolding, which suggests poor instincts. As a result, he may end up going where he needs to go, but gets there about a half-second late...and in pass coverage, this half-second is the difference between a receiver who's well-covered, and a receiver running wide open through the secondary.

And with Lamont Thompson, it's usually the latter.

 

What's wrong with LT? He plays for the Titans.

 

I call Lamont a prostitute... All he does is escort WRs down the field. Its almost like he waits for them to catch the ball before making a tackle.

Plus, almost every big passing play this year was because of him taking a bad angle, being out of position, or just getting juked out of his jock strap.

 

who remembers the play against the chargers when keenan mccardell got the ball on a screen pass, pump faked lamont and got about 8 more extra yards?

I agree with whats being said..
LT get burnt downfield, takes Bad angles for the tackle and is EASILY side-stepped or juked most of the time... Hill isn't much better IMHO
but what we also see is that whether our secondary admits it or not His bad coverage causes our other guys in coverage to make mistakes trying to pick up slack.. Numerous times this year we saw, Hope, Pac, and others get out of position trying to pick up a blown coverage or jumping at a pump fake or double move to pick up that slack...excited to see what changes are made in the offseason.. (Would love to see Asante in two tone blue..)
