I wouldn't be upset with Coughlin, Bill Snyder at Kansas State came back to save them, he's what 80?

Alright, let's look at the potential positives of this one.

He brings credibility to the organization. As silly as that may sound to some of you, no one is going to laugh at the Titans actually bringing in a winner. He puts the Titans back on the map, which is very important.

Sure, he had a few rough last years with the Giants but they kinda seem like a mess at the top of that organization anyway. If he comes in here and brings a good staff with him and wins right off the bat, we would then be treated seriously and would have some momentum going our way.

Maybe he decides to coach a bit longer not having to deal with the New York weather and media. Rough weather and a ton of extra stress. With the Titans, mostly good weather and not nearly the same amount of pressure. I'm really reaching on this one but it seems justifiable that with better living arrangements he would want to continue on longer.

Overall, it's not nearly as risky as an unproven guy or maybe a Josh McDaniels type but his limited window is nothing to scoff at. We would really have to bank on immediate success for this hire to be a win down the road. He could bring us back to contention and then the next HC could bring home the trophy, that may be the most realistic scenario to come from this.

Best expansion coach ever. Jags have not been the same since they fired him.

Honestly speaking, if he doesn't win/come close to winning a superb owl within 5 years people aren't going to want him to be the coach anymore anyway so the "he only got 5 years left" thing really isn't a problem

Looking back now, it's really impressive what he accomplished with an expansion team. I was really young at that time but now it's a whole new admiration for him during his Jags years.

If he's not winning by year 5 then he's obviously gone but my concern is the first 2-3. If we're not winning then it's going to get harder and harder for him. What coordinators and coaches will want to jump on the sinking ship then? That's my issues. Titans can't afford to d!ck around again for another couple years while our 70-year old coach isn't exactly getting any younger. It would just be a ticking time bomb. Now if he came out and we went 8-8 the first year and then improved after that? A whole different story.

Everyone keeps referring to their GM as Ross...

His name is Jerry Reese, folks.
