Fantastic vid, Earlers. This, in my opinion, was one of Vince's finest showings of his entire career. He didn't have to do much in terms of throwing a lot, but all his throws were good throws. He threw it out of bounds instead of running out for a loss once. He checked it down when he had to, ran when it was appropriate to run, and hit the open receivers downfield. Watching him go up top and Nate not drop it was a beautiful sight. They seem to be building some real continuity, and if Nate can keep up the good work then we may have a suprise number 1 on our hands here. I'll be the first to admit, I hated hard on Nate Washington this offseason, but I have absolutely no qualm with the idea of eating crow if this dude keeps showing up like he did today and in the preseason.

142.8...Vince will be the highest rated QB in week 1 action. Our defense looked aggressive and swarming, 5 sacks, 2 turnovers, +1 altogether. Exactly what you want out of the defense. Now that we've got the 1 cupcake game we have out of the way, let's see what this team is really made of.

 

They're keeping it simple for Vince and he's playing SMART. He slides when he should, he throws the ball OOB when he should. Just good stuff. Nothing amazing, nothing really impressive, but it doesn't have to be. Keep it simple, and efficient... and then he gets chances like the bomb to Nate where he can really hurt teams.

I actually trust Vince. Some of you know how I used to harp on the guy nonstop.

 

Sure do. I think he's playing better then average, and thats how you're making it seems. 142 passer rating is legit, regardless of how many yards he had. That means he more or less maximized the 17 passes he threw

 

Well, most of it was dink and dunk. One good pass to the wide open Washington.. the rest just mostly check-down throws.

But it doesn't matter. I'll take that over gunslinging for 300 yards any day.

 

I am guilty of this... but like you, I'm conVINCEd. He's legit and nobody wants to admit it.

10 looked alot like number 9 today. Having a QB who can use their feet to extend the drive is essential for this team to win. He played very smart and used his weapons effectively and and efficiently.

 

My favorite part.

 

He bounced pretty well back from that fumble.

 

Take a look at his situational stats, an you can see he's developed tremendously. Especially early in the game he was faced with several 3rd and longs. On 3rd and 6+ he completed 66.7% for an average of 9.8 YPA (14.75 YPC), no INTs. That's not easy and he's not been great at that in the past.
