Saturday’s game against the Falcons should give the Titans clarity about starters at their most competitive positions — center and cornerback.

“This game should tell us all we need to know as far as both spots,” coach Mike Munchak said Wednesday.

Rob Turner will make his second preseason start at center after Fernando Velasco started the opener, while Alterraun Verner will make his second preseason start at cornerback opposite Jason McCourty. Verner will play the first quarter and Tommie Campbell the second.

So does that mean Turner and Verner hold the edge in landing the jobs?

“Yeah, it’s hedging that way, sort of leaning that way, but we still have to play another football game and see how we play as a group and the conversation could be totally different,” Munchak said. “No one’s earned spots yet. We haven’t told anyone it’s their spot yet, but hopefully this time next week we will be saying that.”
