If he was cheap I wouldn't hate it. But he's definitely on the decline.

 

Is he another Decker? Maybe. But he has a much higher upside, a second year removed from a bad injury, and we just need a quality backup, not a star. That's who Davis is supposed to be.

Sounds like a match to me if the money is right.

 

While i'm against overpaying free agents with ridiculous contracts that hamstring the team for years (Suh, Haynesworth, Osweiller, Glennon etc), there has to be a medium somewhere I don't think we've quite found recently.

I think free agency is a good opportunity to shore up a position with a guy who has proven he can play in the NFL. Sometimes it doesn't pan out but thats life.

Last year the Eagles, Jags and Rams added key additions and it paid dividends. We have quite a few holes right now to be honest (interior OL, DE, LB, secondary, 3rd down RB, speed at WR) - we cant address it all with the draft or average middle of the road players like we picked up in free agency last year for the most part.

We should be a team on the up having just made the playoffs - I think with our 60m cap room we should bring in a household name somewhere to improve us further and keep us on the map.

I know it's super early so not pressing the panic alarm yet but I haven't seen us meaningfully linked with anyone - Hopefully Jrob has a few tricks on the way

 

We've been linked to Dion Lewis, Nigel Bradham and a few other FA. There's a ton of talented guys out there. It's just the QB and WR market that's been hot.

 

He does have a much higher upside. If we get Rodgers as well. He was non-existent when he went down last year, and his production was halved when he went down in 2013. Cobb and Adams performed at nearly the same level, as underwhelming as it was. Chemistry is much of the reason for that production, which is why I'm surprised that they cut him

 

The last time we inked the first free agent deal it was ****ing Dexter McCluster. It's not always the best thing.

 

I was looking at the FA tracker and there is a lot of good players still out there.

 

I mean no one that would have been a difference maker for us, other than the top two WRs and Norwell, has been signed yet.

No reason to be worried yet.
