we all know he has been injured. How do you know what his pay demands are? Hell doesn't EVERYONE want a payday?

 

The garbage time stats is definitely a misconception for Tanne hill. I didn't go back to the beginning of his career, but during the past two seasons, 78% of his TDs took place during victories. Compare that to Garbage time king Kirk Cousins, who has thrown around 56% of his TDs during victories in the past two years. At 78% , I think you can assume that most of the stats were meaningful and not inflated, especially since all but one of these victories were 1 score games. And that's actually slightly higher than Mariota.

I'm not going to pretend to understand how QBR works, but any system which ranks Mitchell Trubisky as the 3rd best QB in the league probably needs a lot of work and isn't that relevant

 

IMO, team leadership cannot push the "Good to Great" message for every player on the team and then accept less at the QB position. They would lose too much credibility. No great season, no new contract.

As for how you define great....

 

It's not about counting how many td's he threw in victories vs losses because td's in losses could be more important...or they might not.

I see Mariota having a better year

I'm hoping he turns the corner and no more injuries!

He doesn't seem like money is his motivation. He seems to be his own critic as well and wants to get better.

Make or break year for him, if he shows why he was the #2 pick, I think we'll see a 4 year/ 78 million deal kind of deal.

 

Shouldn’t it be any TD toss within about 2 scores, either up or down, count as non-garbage time?
If you’re up more than 2 scores, it’s probably overkill, thus garbage. If you’re down more than 2 scores, it’s garbage time.

Of course this only applies in the 4th qtr. any other time of the game, there is no such thing as garbage time. (Unless it’s 59-0)
