Jonnu was trash, don’t let the blown coverage TD vs the Texans skew your opinion.

But he was still better in '18 than he was in '17.
He had 100 more yards in 3 fewer games.
And those yards were for twice as many first downs.

The fans have never seen a wr develop and have no idea what growing pains are like??? LOL!!!

Speak for yourself. Most fans have watched wr's develop in this league. Many fans of the Titans and Oilers before them have MANY examples of growing pains of wr's! Thank you for trying to speak for all of us. Sorry...but you are wrong!

What exact 'skill set' is required to carry an average QB? And this is different from just getting better as all players try to over their careers?

We have no basis to judge the player's he's throwing to? Why is that? Some of us have played and coached football and would know if players are running good routes, what balls should be caught, etc. Why would you suggest otherwise?

And along that concept, why do you think fans can't judge the receivers but they can fairly and accurately judge the QB? QB is a much more difficult position to judge and yet you judge our QB all the time. So...why do you think you can judge one...but no one else can judge the other?

So, does he explain in that tweet or others what he defines as 'success?' Hard to know what he means when he doesn't define it. Is Success getting 1 or more yards? Making a first down? Gaining 3.3yards?

A few things. According to his article, you should never run. He's arguing that teams should pass more on first down (which they did) primarily because they will have either more 'success' (not sure what that means since he doesn't define it in his article) or because the ypa will be higher with a pass. The YPA will ALWAYS be higher with a pass than a run so not sure of his point. Also, he suggest the Seahawks should pass more because they 'only' had a 4.7ypa average running the ball and success like 53% of the time.

This kind of argument ignores many important factors and assumes everyone is playing with the same pieces and just using them differently and hey, everyone should do what the smart guy is doing. It doesn't quite work that way. Likely one of the factors in teams running more on first down out of 11 personel is that McVay started a bit of a trend in 2017 by living in 11 personel like 95% of the time and having GREAT success with the run. He continued that in 2018 and more teams followed but not at that level of exclusivity.

Any Titans fan who has watched this team for a long time knows that we've had problems trying to stop the run out of a nickel D over the year...but this is nothing new. And making broad generalizations about the league and what teams should do based on a league-wide trend that set a record by being off by a little over 1% is silly. We had the Rams offensive coordinator last year and yet we didn't copy that formula nor did we live in a 3 wr set 95% of the time. Why? Because we don't have their OL and RB.

It will always bea more successful strategy to maximize your OWN teams talent versus your current opponent than to follow a league wide generality that does NOT take into account your own players nor the relative strengths and weaknesses of your team versus your opponents'!!!

In the past 2 decades, there's has been 1 WR who has developed into a quality player- Derrick Mason. And he was a non factor before year 4. I really doubt many people remember what that process was like, if any.

Just catching a few games of some other team around the league does not help to understand the process. That's why you have idiots bitching at these WRs and wanting to draft more young WRs, who will likely have similar issues.

It's like when you are brand new to a job, you are over-thinking and worried about making mistakes to the point that it affects and slows down your performance and you actually make more mistakes- that is exactly what these WRs are going through. I'm pretty sure Taylor wouldn't make it this far as a WR if he was cursed with stone hands. Titans' fans don't get that. It's quite obvious.

You also can't look around the league and develop expectations for these young players, unless you are willing to look at everyone. Some come in right away and play well, others take time. Allen Robinson was an elite player in Year 2, Davante Adams was worse than any WR on our roster. Who would you prefer now?

As far as carrying a QB- in an offense with a limited/safe QB, a young WR just isn't going to be consistent or polished enough at his craft to get many looks. They need someone who can consistently beat CBs and give the QB easy windows in the short/mid areas of the field. Throws any QB should be able to make. There is a reason why QBs like Taylor, Mary, A. Smith, etc. Throw for like 3,000 yards and QBs like Brady , luck, Rodgers, etc. throw upward of 4,000. They can make plays which require more skill and difficulty from the QB . Currently most of the work is required from our WRs to make the passing game work, and they just aren't seasoned enough to produce at a high level

couldnt be more wrong. Mariotas problem isnt he cant make the throws, its consistency. Hes made some throws (Delanie in Quad Cvg, Darius Jennings numerous times, Taywan over the top, Countless Rishard on 3rd and Long, and that Magic throw vs LAC) that very other few QBs attempt, spare me with the WRs need to work for everything because weve seen marcus put it right on the numbers and receivers have dropped it. The Anti-Mariota rhetoric is understandable, but at least make sense next time.

Being incapable of making difficult throws is no different than being unwilling/inconsistent. You're still going to be limited to predominately easy throws with bigger windows, which puts you in the Alex Smith/Tyrod Taylor/Marcus Mariota spectrum of production in the passing game.

While it’s still a slim list, I’d argue Drew Bennett developed here, Nate Washington developed here and Delanie Walker developed in Tennessee.

Bennett the only drafted one, but both the other two came here, played a couple seasons before really breaking out.
