Williams had 644 snaps, 337 of which were Run defense snaps. 20 tackles... 9 assists..
The remaining 307 were pass rush snaps... 1 sack.

You'd think with all the ridiculous talent that defense has- especially up front which should be giving him lots of 1v1s... he'd be doing better numbers.

Let's get Woods numbers for comparison real quick.

245 Snaps. 131 run defense snaps. 114 pass rush: 14 tackles, 4 assists. No sacks.

Woods had 38% of Williams snaps and 62% of his tackle production. Minus 1 sack.

Let's project Williams Stats for funnsies by having him take over the exactly role/snaps that woods had here.

    644 snaps/29 Tackles = 22.2 snaps per tackle average.

    245/22.2 = 11 whole tackles. (Including assists)

That's a clear cut down grade. Next the argument will turn to scheme change- scenery change theory, use in Denvers defense... la de da de.

The guys that played around him on the line: Derek Wolfe and Jared Crick mopped up. 8.5 sacks, 70 tackles and 44 assists combined. Maybe it was scheme. Maybe he just sucks.

    :wooo:

Or maybe with those guys next to him, he didn't get a chance make a play. Maybe he was en route to getting a sack, but Von Miller beat him to it.

I'll wait till after the season to decide whether it was an upgrade or downgrade. For now I'll be optimistic. Could be another Kyle Vanden Bosch.

Reading bronco fans take rn... basically no one believed he was suited to play NT/1Tech. It's a mix of "he sucks" - "played out of position" or "Didn't have help around him"

We sure we using him as a true NT?

IDK what the plan is, but my guess is no, not like a traditional NT, probably expect him to shoot the gaps like 3-technique allows

Ive heard LeBeau say he doesn't just want his NT eating blockers, wants him getting after the QB

That's fair, but if we were to pull stats and analytics on Cyprien in 2016, which are good, you would just ignore them and say that he sucks.

No, in the scheme fit of being a run defender he is fine... that's what he's actually good at. It's the fact people want him to be a cover LB that is the problem.

Him in limited coverage in our BN could work just fine. Blitzing force seems likely, moving forward, driving on the ball... all good. Moving backwards seems to be the problem. He's got stiff hips and doesn't look very fluid in space. At all.

Which makes me feel all cozy having Williamson playing the middle.

Ensc is THE premiere evaluator of men's hips.

Seriously man, every time you have something negative to say about a player it's always about hips... So strange. Lol
