Titans Sign Kenny Vaccaro

That was from a bad season. Reid was really poor in 2016 before the new coaching regime used him more effectively, so it happens. If either were consistently great, they wouldn't be free agents in August.

People are all over the place on Vaccaro. Some say he's good against the run, others say he sucks, some say he can play single high and good in coverage, others say he sucks. I'm going to assume that he's like Cyprien and his positive plays don't really stand out, but his negative ones do. Not as truly awful as people says he is, but doesn't make a big impact either so the bad can seem to outweigh the good. And Reid probably doesn't have spurts of looking truly awful and makes some impressive athletic plays, but his impact is largely overstated and he's a pretty average player.

 

I'm gonna dust off last years Saints tape and take a long hard look at Vaccaro, week 2 vs NE should be a good gauge.

He did but it was called back due to holding. Impressive grab tho

Ok so I'm 3/4 into that game now. So far mostly good from Vaccaro. Gronk and Hogan combined for 3 catches all for 1st downs. Vaccaro does however cut Gronk off at one point to force a sack.

 

Ok final assessment based on the Pats game.

I give him a C+

He only played 49/75 of the defensive snaps. Not sure if that's by design or not. Gave up 4 1st downs. 2 were perfect coverage vs Gronk but Gronk is gonna Gronk so... The other 2 came vs Hogan on a slant, and a terrible missed tackle at the LoS vs RB Mike Gilisee

He had an INT that didnt count and forced a cover sack vs Gronk.

 

You'd think that would be a higher grade against the Pats.

 

Grade is unimportant

Biggest concern was that missed tackle, the other 3 plays he gave up would be completed on just about anyone

 

Honestly, I think missed tackles is the least of his concerns. Dude can straight up thump with the best of them.

 

He doesnt get off blocks that well that game for all it's worth

Hes physical enough. Goes at Gronk pretty hard while covering him

 

Did he blitz in that game?
