I'm in a little debate with another NFL fan. He says the Titans have never been rivals with the Ravens and Steelers.
In fact he goes as far as saying that the Titans don't have any bitter rivals.
So I come to the Titan nation asking if you considered the Steelers and Ravens to be our bitter Rivals in the days of the old AFC Central

    he did say "NFL fan"...

    but the answers are obvious.

The Steelers and Ravens are both big rivals and remain so to this day. The Jaguars and Colts have both become legitimate rivals. Maybe so that they have eclipsed the Ravens and Steelers. The Ravens and Steelers are probably too concerned about each other to worry about the Titans too much though. At the same time our Jacksonville rivalry is red hot and the rivalry with Indy has just come to a boil. We could have a great rivalry with the Houston team but they need to field a team that consistently stays over .500. If the Texans were any good there is a great potential for a great rivalry.

All you have to do is look at the banter that's occured between Titans fans and Ravens fans on this board in the past week or so and you have your answer

Some of us old folk actually remember the old AFC Central, The Oilers, the original Browns and all that jazz..
All 4 teams hated each other to the bitter end.
    Your friend is wrong.

The Titans were not really rivals with the steelers or ravens when they were all in the central. Not untel the titans came to the south did they become rivals with both those teams. Now the Oilers in the central was a deferant story. The oilers and steelers had a mean rivalry, as they did with the browns. But the titans and those other two teams didnt start battleing until they had a couple of close ones in the playoffs. Or are you guys talking about the titans as the old oilers and those rivalries.

Pre 1995 (ish) the AFC Central was:
    Cincinatti Bengals
    Cleveland Browns
    Houston Oilers
    Pittsburgh Steelers

    After 1995 (96 season)
    Jacksonville
    Cincinatti Bengals
    Baltimore Ravens
    Tennessee Oilers / Titans
    Pittsburgh Steelers

    1999, 2000, 2001 the Central actually had 6 teams.
    Jacksonville
    Cincinatti Bengals
    Baltimore Ravens
    Tennessee Oilers / Titans
    Pittsburgh Steelers
    Cleveland Browns

The Oilers became the Titans in 99 and stayed in the central division until 2002 so the rivalry between the Steelers and Oilers/Titans has been going on for quite sometime. The Ravens came into the division in 96 but things didnt start to heat up between these two untill the 99 season when Tenn went to the SB. Since then its been a battle but IMO i would have to say the Steelers are a little bit more of rivalry only because they were in the same division for so long.

We may not play the Rat-Birds twice a season but our playoff history alone makes them rivals.

Oiler fans will always hate the Steelers.

To me the Texans are like the Bungles. Free wins every time we play them with a sprinkled in upset from time to time to at least prove they are playing the games instead of just handing them to us.
