Titans to Add Ring of Honor at LP Field

. . . The nine members to be included in the original Ring of Honor will include former Oilers defensive end Elvin Bethea (1968-83), quarterback/kicker George Blanda (1960-66), running back Earl Campbell (1978-84), General Manager Mike Holovak (1989-93), safety Ken Houston (1967-72), quarterback Warren Moon (1984-93) and punter Jim Norton (1960-68), along with former Oiler/Titan offensive lineman Bruce Matthews (1983-2002) and former Oilers offensive lineman Mike Munchak (1982-93).

I don't agree with this. Despite Bud owning the franchise, those guys belong in Houston. They mean nothing to 99% of the 68,000+ who will be at the games on Sunday.

I would reserve this for only those who wore a Titans uniform.

I'm with you. Most of us weren't/aren't oilers fans. Those guys mean nothing to me, well other than Bruce.

It's a tough situation but that is asking Bud to ignore most of his franchise history. And we all know he would "give the middle finger" to the Texans honoring them.

I don't blame him for doing it. Would you want to disrespect a franchise? So I don't mind.

I understand your point of view but it is the same orginazation, just a different name and city. Houston Oilers = Tennessee Oilers = Tennessee Titans.

Adams also created a set of criteria for future players to have their jersey numbers retired. Players would have to meet three benchmarks to attain this honor, including entry into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, recognition as achieving their greatest success with the Titans/Oilers franchise and play the majority of their career with the Oilers/Titans franchise.

that's the best idea they've had all off-season.

I'm not thrilled by it, but am ok with it. Hopefully over time we'll gain enough titan players in the ring to overshadow the few oilers. In the long run, it'll look good.

But you can't completely ignore a handful of Hall of Famers or other star players for the franchise. They belong to this franchise regardless of where they are located.

Where is Eddie George? I guess he has to be retired first.
