Unquestionably we have the reputation for not paying and retaining our star players. It's been publicly stated many times by players here, for example most recently Finnegan.

That Collins contract is the going rate for QBs. The Colts signed him to a two-year $14 million contract in 2011.

Chris Hope was worth that money when he signed the deal.

Chris Johnson led the league in rushing yards his first three years in the league, how was he not worth that? No one had the foresight to see his offensive line being a sieve.

Craig Stevens will be making $1 million for a base salary in 2012. How is that overpaying?

Bo Scaife sucks. No argument there.

    RavensShallBurn,
Craig Stevens will be getting just about 1,000,000 dollars this year. I don't know why you think he's getting north up 3 for each year

And how many of them have gone on to great things?

Derrick Mason and Samari Rolle are the only ones I'd argue did great things after they left, and they were released because of cap reasons, not because we didn't want to pay them.

Haye was decent before he signed with us.
Chris Hope was one of the best safeties in the league when we first signed him. He is still on his original contract with us.

Scaife and Hope were the worst on that list. Stevens is a good blocker that kind of thing won't show up in the stats. He is also fast for a blocking TE. They screwed up Haye telling him to gain weight then lose it the following year, but he was still overpaid. He should have stayed at DE like he played in college at Vanderbilt. CJ will be fine once we fix the line and install the new running scheme. Last year they were still using the old terminology for the running plays due to the lockout.

The biggest thing the titans need to learn is when to release a player who is past his prime or renegotiate his contract to be a backup. Fisher held on to vets way too long. Cook and Stevens should have gotten more playing time instead of Scaife. Hope and Harper should have been flat out released and replaced when they lost their speed.

Tagging Bo Scaife has to take the cake on bad decisions.

Average of $3.75mil per year. What is he supposed to make in 2013, 2014, and 2015?

You are still forgetting the new standards for vet resignings. They get more, rookies get less.

this will honestly probably be close to the new vet "minimum" under the new cba.
