This is becoming a little like singing 100 bottles of beer on the wall during a 15 hour road trip...

    McDaniels HC record 8-8 & 3-9= 11-17 = .393
    Yes, Mularkey pre-Titans was .333
It is a difference of 2 more wins in 48 attempts.
But let's not just pick part of the stats....that we like.
    Full picture
    MM Titans .500
MM 2 FULL seasons with Titans .576

Not saying we don't need a better offense/ OC change.

You said people who are defending Mularkwy aren't watching the game. Which is dumb because obviously we do. My counter was that if you think Mularkey is a bad coach only based on what you see on tv then you don't know how competetive team sports work.

McDaniels was simply an example of why being good at play calling and design doesn't mean you're good coach.
Just like being really good at maths doesn't make you a good teacher.

My point was that if a coach with a career winning percentage of .333 can succeed with this team, you really wonder how many failed coaches would have similar or more success.

He deserves a lot of credit for turning this team around last year, but it really feels like the players have been overcoming the coaching this season. We never seem to win because of executing a good plan, we just always have someone playing hero at the end of games. You can attribute this to the mentality that Mularkey has instilled in these players, but I think that is taking a lot of credit away from them.

Yep. He's had success, but he's also had the best roster the franchise has had in years, and a nice schedule handed to him.

The fan angst is that we should be 10-6, 11-5 or even 12-4 with the talent and draw we have.

Belichick Giants defense was one of the best at that time.

I will be very surprised if Mularkey isn't our coach next yr. I think he has done a great job of getting the players to play hard for him. Motivating players is a big part of being a head coach and he checks the box in that regard. The other major part of coaching is actually instilling a game plan that helps put your players in the best position to win. I do not think that he checks the box in regards to this. Going 0-7 on 2 point conversions during Mularkey's tenure as head coach is horrible. Those are specially designed plays that should be worked on every week and look to take advantage of the specific opponents weakness. Our lack of production in our scripted play series also very much concerns me in regards to poor coaching.

I think the inner rumblings from the offensive players will get Mularkey to move on from Robiskie, but if Mularkey is unwilling to do that then I could still see him getting fired.
