Titans Free Safety Position to be an Open Competition

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher introduced LB Ryan Fowler, WR Justin Gage, and S Bryan Scott to the media. In discussing the roles of each, he mentioned the Titans will hold an open competition for the free safety position currently held by Lamont Thompson. "The safety position itself, the free and the strong safety are pretty much interchangeable," said Fisher. "We feel that we’re going to ask the same thing at both positions. What we want to do is bring experience and depth to the position and open it up for competition. I think one would assume it’s going to be difficult to upseat Chris (Hope). Chris returns as the starter, but as far as the other position we will open it up and see what happens."
