There was speculation today on 104.5 The Zone (local Nashville sports radio) about the Titans options in the up coming draft. There was talk about a possible trade involving our 1st round pick to the Chargers for Phillip Rivers. There's no way the Chargers plan on keeping him around, plus, he's already played under the tutelage of Norm Chow and would pick up the system very fast. Although, this is all speculation I think he'd be a great fit. I'm sure someone here will know the economics behind it and can tell us if it's even feasable.

If the Titans traded their first round pick in the upcoming draft (realistic possiblity), it would be for additional picks and trading back in the first round IMO. Remember Reese is looking for a third rounder now that he gave the pick up for Henry.

Not if they really like Rivers. We certainly need a future franchise QB.
If Chow really thinks Rivers can be a great future star in this league based on his comparisons with Palmer, Leinhart, McNair and Volek, players he has intimately worked with, we would do well to grab Rivers while we have the chance. Having spent two years already in the NFL means his learning curve will be much shorter than any rookie we could draft and our current draft position dictates we have no chance at Leinhart.

Taking Rivers into account, try this; Reese trades back into the mid first round and aquires two picks maybe a 3rd in this year's draft and another one in next year's. He then trades the mid first round pick to the Chargers for Rivers.

Best of both worlds. The Titans pick up their future QB that Chow is already familiar with as well as regain the third rounder in this year's draft as well as get some gravy for next year as well...

Culpepper and Collins could also be possibilities.

We should do that trade, and then trade Volek for Bart Scott and a 3rd round pick.
