If the D wants off the field, they can try stopping the other team on 3rd down

I agree about TOP. But that "2nd ranked pass defense" was most definitely a case of the stats not telling the real story. Week 1 neither of the Chiefs starting WRs were even remotely starting caliber. Week 2 Dallas ran for 900 yards on us so they didn't really need to throw. And week 3 Dalton only attempted 23 passes.

This defense is pretty freaking far from "legit". We desperately need a CB2 as well as linebackers who can stop the run.

I was at the game and enjoyed myself, mostly because I mostly stopped paying attention by the beginning of the 2nd half.

The Colts game TOP can be summed up as this:

    Onside kick recovery
    stupid Wright Fumble
Butterfingers play by Hunter that resulted in a BS INT.

3 possessions is a huge difference in a football game.

It stinks for Whitehurst. He could have been the unsung hero if not for Wreh-Wilson and the WRs with no hands.

and a big WTF for Nate Washington for totally not even being ready to receive the perfectly thrown TD pass. embarrassing.

They've wasted too much money and too many draft picks for this WR corps for them to SUCK.

Wreh Wilson's play was about equal in disaster-like proportions as Mouton's day with the Jets. He was simply schooled all day long. Pathetic. Plus, he's a Steelers fan. He should get gone.

Mike Keith was in 'D is tired' mode with 10 mins left in 1st quarter - WTF!!!!

I heard a little bit of Keith on the radio this morning. He is the king of spin. But it's what he's paid to do so can't really blame him I guess. Anyway, he was saying that he really believes BWW is going to be good and how unfortunate it is that he might have to sit next week due to the concussion.

Hell it seems like these injuries are god's way of saying "hey Ken, get these scrubs out of the lineup already!"

So you don't think taking a timeout to get the play right, which lead to a TD, was worthwhile?

Going from 1st and goal from the 7 to 1st and goal from the 12, is not worth saving a timeout. I would even consider not kicking and go for it on 4th down if I was down by 2 scores.

Coaching preparations --- I have to question the preparation that went into the Colts game... In years past, the Colts usually attempt to jump out into a quick lead, and they did it again yesterday because kickoff team failed to respond to what the Colts were showing I.E. onside kick. Keeping the defense on the field and then the offense not being able to generate meaningful drives.

I expect a 'back to basics' approach this weekend.. maybe grinding it out a little more, and wining it with a field goal in the 4th quarter. I hate the "Fisherball" approach to football, but the offense just isn't to the level it needs to be to run things like Wiz wants it run. Maybe if we had Arron Rogers, but Locker and company as well as the receivers are just not there -- yet.

    Pretty much.

As long as we see improved over the course of the season, particularly the second half when they are used to the schemes then I will be content.
