Kudos for actually watching the guy's tape and not just talking out of your ass. I guess we're either seeing different things or my standards for what make a good Tackle are much lower than yours. I was expecting to see the worst tackle in the league and got nothing close to that.I personally like PFF as I believe they're able to provide some very interesting analysis, that being said I trust what I'm seeing more than their evaluations.

    1. I didn't want us to sign Oher because I considered him to be pretty average and was worried we'd overpay.

    2. When we signed him and I saw the contract I was fine with it because it was pretty standard for a veteran RT like Oher. If we took one at #11 we would've had to pay more guaranteed money.

    3. Then I saw that PFF claimed he was the worst run blocking RT and a mediocre pass blocker. I called BS.

    4. I then watched his first eight games and saw more good than bad. I will continue to watch the rest of his games when I get a chance. But there's absolutely no way in hell he's the worst run blocking RT. And he's above average in pass blocking from what I've seen so far.

    5. Never said or even insinuated that I had a monopoly on NFL game rewind, so that's a ridiculous statement to make. PK hated the signing... Do you think he's on game rewind watching Oher? No. Do you think the journalists who are writing articles about how we made a terrible signing are actually watching Oher (and only Oher) in his games? No. My point exactly.

    6. I never saw where you said you were watching his games too. You mentioned his whiff on Mercilus to allow the strip sack - I didn't know you were watching the other games. That was probably the worst play I've seen from Oher so far along with his missed block in the Dolphins game that resulted in Rice getting hit almost as soon as he touched the ball. But his teammates on the OL are even worse and not doing him any favors.

How does any of this make me a homer, by the way? All ears.

    One thing has not changed...

Michael Oher is a polarizing character indeed.

During his time in Baltimore he evoked alternating bile spewing and love fests. The threads related to him and Gaither circa 2010 were regularly 5-10 times as long as other threads and it became impossible to make any statement or observation about either player without being labeled as an Oher hater or Oher apologist.

Prior to the 2008 divisional game, I watched a number of the Titans games from that season. Stewart and Roos were both dominating then and rarely made a pass-blocking error. If you still have Short Cuts or the DVDs from that era, I'd encourage you to rewatch and remember what great tackle play looks like. Even if Oher improves significantly, he won't remind you of those guys.

Go back and watch Stewart of last year. We all know he played great once, but last year was a "oh how the mighty have fallen" year for him.

    Oher is an upgrade.

Everyone becomes a polarizing figure on this board. We throw around the terms hater and nutswinger pretty liberally around here.

You are one of the idiots I was talking about that has double standards. But go ahead keep posting ridiculous things because you are butt hurt that CJ got a big contract.

I seen him hangin' out with Miss Congeniality and Indian Outlaw. I says to myself, "at right 'ere is a superstar."
