The rams loss doesn't help us that much. We need them to lose an AFC game. Whether or not they win this week, they have to lose next week.

The steelers' division record is irrelevant for tie-breakers with us. With us, it's conference record that counts.

i wouldn't really say its irrelevant though b/c if the browns win this week but lose to sf and pit beats stl but loses to the ravens, then yeah we'd have a tie breaker w/ pit but it wouldn't matter b/c pit and cleveland woud be tied. pit would win the division and then we'd lose the tie breaker to cleveland.

so even though it doesn't have a direct effect on us, it does effect us.

To rule tie breakers it is:

    1. Head to Head (if applicable)
    2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
    4. Strength of victory.
    5. Strength of schedule.
    6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
    7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
    8. Best net points in conference games.
    9. Best net points in all games.
    10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
    11. Coin toss.

Head to head doesn't matter here between us, the Steelers and Cleveland since the Titans haven't played either. If the Titans win out that wouldput us at 7-5 in the conference. Right now both of the other two teams are 7-4 with one game a piece in the AFC, Pittsburgh playing Baltimore and Cleveland playing Cincinnati. So assuming we can win out that would put us at 10-6 with an AFC record of 7-5.

    Pittsburgh scenario:

    a) Lose out. End up with a 9-7 record getting us in.

    b) Lose to St. Louis but beat Baltimore. End up with the same record 10-6 but have a better conference record at 8-4. We are out.

    c) Beat St. Louis but lose to Baltimore. End up with the same record 10-6 and and also the same conference record being at 7-5. That's where it gets tricky. They have played four similar teams to us being Cincinnati ( beat them 2 ), Broncos ( L 31-28 ), Jaguars ( L 29-22 ) and Jets ( L 19-16 ).

    Cleveland scenario:

a)Lose out. End up with a 9-7 record getting us in.

    b) Lose to San Fran but beat Cincinnati. End up with the same record 10-6 but have a better conference record at 8-4. We are out.

    c) Beat San Fran but lose to Cincinnati. End up with the same record 10-6 and and also the same conference record being at 7-5. Again this is where wewould go to common games. The Browns have played Oakland ( L 24-26 ), Cincinnati ( play twice one win ), Houston ( W 17-27 ), and the Jets ( W 24-18 )

Both situations don't look great if we had to go to common games considering wehave yet to play the Jets who Cleveland beat and Pittsburgh didn't, both teams havebeat Cincinnati where we got beat (bad), our wins both together over Houston don't stack up well over Clevelands. And it goes on and on.

we'll have to win out for any of it to matter so we'll have beaten the jets so for that pit scenerio b to happen we'd tie in common games as well which means it would go to strength of victory (win% of teams you beat) and we should win that. the problem is for that scenerio to happen we'd need cleveland to win out or lose out or at least lose to cincy b/c if they end up tied w/ pit then pit wins the division and get in ahead of us so it would actually be cleveland scenerio C where we'd win w/ a better record in common games.
