It looks bad when you repeatedly call someone naive and spell it wrong. Irony. Go Jake though.

It's ironic when people misuse the word irony. Maybe you should look up the definition of naive.

I misspelled it the first time an my iPad auto corrected it to that.

    Um...NO!

We don't wait for Cam to hurt us with a run to be making sure we keep contain on him and he's not Michael Vick either. It's the threat that counts. And didn't he just have 2 big scrambles in the last game?

And frankly, this is a coaching staff playcalling adjustment. let's suppose you're right that the opposing team isnt respecting the boot and the backside end is crashing down. By the next series or perhaps even the next play you'll see him run a bootleg to expose the defense. So even IF you were right, it'd still work in our favor. Coaches hate 2 things almost as much as losing....a player giving up contain and poor tackling!

You'll see teams respect Jake's ability to run or you'll be seeing Jake run a lot of boot and run/pass option plays. This equals...it will work in our favor!

Yep. Not to mention this guy continues to show more poise on the run than in the pocket. Sleep on our QB's legs, fine. He'll rollout and become even more accurate. haha.

You have several option as a defense:
Shut down the pass- CJ gets more running room
    Shut down CJ- PA bootlegs/options
Shut Down Locker- Allow more deep passing options (that from what we've seen Locker is capable of hitting even with decent coverage on them and would presumably find a little easier as these situations are presented)

    With Hass it was this:
Shut down the pass- CJ gets slightly more run room since shutting down Hass just means shutting down intermediate and short, deep will be inaccurate
Shut down CJ- CJ gets slightly less room but since there's no deep threat, D has no real need to back off too much.

sorry.. but there is no way Hass will be coming in unless locker is hurt.. MM already stated that he did not want a QB controversy... Locker will be going through all the ups and downs as a QB, so get ready for the ride... It's going to be a lot like Dalton and Gabbert's rookie years... lots of 3 and outs... except the difference is that there will be a seasoned vet on the sidelines giving advice..

Did you really just compare Jake Locker (as a running QB) to Cam Newton?

Teams will take the chance on him getting one or 2 ten yard runs... he's not going to win a game with his feet.

I agree, I do not like it when the coach is so quick to put in the backup in situations like these. You have let him work through the tough times, that is what helps him learn. The fans may not like it, but in the long run it will either help him or let us know we need to go in a different direction. And if that is the case, moving in a different direction, then I would rather learn that now then 2 or 3 years down the road. Then we will be in the same situation all over again.

The argument that Locker doesn't run as often as he used to is founded on the premise that it's his call to make. Sark was pretty serious about Jake learning how to be a pocket passer, and reigned in his running to keep him healthy, and to help Jake in the long run. I don't know what Palmer, Munch, etc are telling him, but I will tell you one thing, Jake isn't afraid or unable to run, he's just been schooled not to for a while now... I think part of it is an institutional bias that says it's OK for black QB's to run, but white QB's shouldn't.
