I'm not sure if these new age offensive coaches are that good, or there are just a ton who are really bad. Or they are put in positions to fail and used as a scapegoat when things go wrong.

Guys like Pederson, Nagy, Reich, and Lafluer didn't have full time play calling duties, if any, but they seemed to acclimate quickly. There is a lot of stubborn old blood in the NFL , but there are clearly a lot of guys who constantly work to perfect their craft and stay a step ahead as opposed to relying on old principals which worked in a completely different era.

In his press conference, Vrabel stated that he'll make some mistakes, but won't make the same mistake twice-this is EXACTLY the mindset that coaches like Jeff Fisher, Mike McCarthy, Rex Ryan, etc. don't share, and it is why they are old news, even though they were promising and effective at one time. The fact that he can provide clear and precise answers to every single post-game question which is presented without getting defensive ( a la Mularkey) seems to support this claim.

It's really quite impressive how polished this young coaching staff seems to be. Vrabel and LaFluer clearly did their homework before the season began, and if the latter leaves, then we'll hire someone else who is cut from the same cloth. It's not like we are asking them to be Picasso; they don't have to reinvent the wheel. You could probably give tape to some college students to analyze, and they could come up with a solid game plan with effective situation play calling. The real issue is that teams either have little to no talent, or a play caller or HC who is insistent on doing things his way instead of doing what actually works.

Not how the nfl works, for players or coaches. OC gets a HC offer and the Titans can’t block it.

LaFluer witnesses Vrabel trading hits with NFL players during and after practice in order to help them improve. Surely, he ponders, "Do I really want to do that"? That's really our only hope for him returning next year.

Football is a tough sport. Always has been , always will be. These pretty boy coaches with QBs on rookie contracts look good now, but how about in a few years ? Let's see if they have the cohones.
