I read it...because it was like a train wreck....you don't want to see it, but you can't look away.

How do you defend your statement of "The teams know we don't need a QB so they'll have to start bidding high."? The very fact that they know we don't need one would lessen his price, considering teams know WE would be the desperate ones in the situation, as we'd have to get rid of him, or waste a number one overall pick.

The best we'd get back are two 4-7 draft picks two years down the road if a trade wasn't made right away.

Number one overall vs two 4-7 round draft picks...no thanks.

This ain't madden where you sign the best free agents and draft the best players, even though you are set at whatever position, just to trade them for more draft picks. Why do that? Cuz I can!

Not sure what to say about this idea, other than I can't get on board with it.

Won't work because of the rookie allocation in the cap. We went through this last year when the Mett lovers were hoping we would trade Mariota.

What you are suggesting is not as dumb as everybody makes it out to be. It IS not a bad business move for all the reasons you listed. And it has been done before with similar circumstances in the NFL (Elway, E. Manning) so it works.

The best move is to undervalue the number one pick to Dallas or SF- say swap #1's this year, get Dallas 2016 2nd (+/- 2017 2nd), and little more for SF's #7 and then let CLE know what you just did. Then hit CLE for reg trade price. And you let all parties involved know you're going to draft Wentz if nobody bites and the deal will take much more to get him. You even bluff SF that a Mariota trade is possible after you take Wentz. JR is new- he's a wildcard. He could potentially have SF, Dallas, and CLE then bidding for that pick.

We really aren't getting a #1 value if we draft Tunsil, Bosa, or Ramsey.

That is the sad part really. We are drafting #1 and there are no true #1 over the top picks available, which makes it much harder for a trade down as well.
