thank god we got Locker

From what little he played, it seems he rolled out of the pocket most every time. When he did stay in the pocket a few times.....his accuracy was suspect at best.
That is what makes me nervous about him.

 

This is obviously his weak point. It is an area that can, and given Locker's attitude and work ethic should improve. Same thing with VY. He improved drastically in this area in his time in Tennessee. That was with a very questionable work ethic. I believe very strongly that Locker will only get better and better in this aspect. A lot of it is just reps. The more he forces himself to stand tall in the pocket and deliver the ball, the better and more confident he will get when doing so.

 

Thank God we have Locker because now we have 2 capable QB's. If Matt was to go down tomorrow we'd still have a shot at pulling out the win.

 

I have no doubts that Locker can throw from the pocket. It's something that can be learned. He just needs to get his footwork down and get reps.

And FWIW, there's nothing wrong with lots of bootlegs and play actions. With some of the weapons we have when everyone is healthy (Britt, CJ, Cook) we could be deadly by spreading the defense through those drops.

 

Locker didn't do that bad from the pocket. Sure he had some incompletions and threw into coverage a few times but he was playing from behind and the defense was in a dime. On his second drive he hit CJ from the pocket on a check down and then hit Washington with a perfect pass. He also hit Cook a number of times from the pocket. On 3rd and 16 he basically threw to Cook from the pocket although he moved a little to an open spot but it was a very nice pass. The TD pass to Washington, perfectly thrown was from the pocket.
