Because Tanny was an actual WR, Mariota was not. I think he does have a couple catches though.

I'm seeing this as a quick screen with option to run or throw and even release whoever was QB releasing to opposite side- there is SO much possibility to at least FREEZE the secondary. it's going to limit their blitz options just have them both on the field.

 

If RT had played 16 games, he might have been MVP, don’t take the ball out of his hands.

I am completely with you on this. If this were so novel - like the first time when Miami rediscovered the Wildcat and used it on New England, that would be one thing. This is not all that special now in terms of surprise. It would be more of a surprise to have a non-QB throw the ball on a backward pass than having two QBs on the field at the same time. The rate of success with RT at QB is so high compared to the benefit of a 2QB set I can't see how you could justify it.

 

But Tannehill is better at QB than Mariota, and every WR on the roster is better than Tannehill.

I think they just did that cause Mariota was crying on the sideline and Vrabel didn't want to get in a fight with his dad after the game in the parking lot.
