Here's a guy a lot of posters wanted. A good article on the difference he's made to the Bears D, even with just 8 sacks on the season.

Who is the next Julius Peppers? Hmm Carlos Dunlap? He had 10 sacks in about 10 games of play.

Seriously give Peppers credit for playing well after getting the big money but he has never been a great run stopper so sack totals and hurries are important with him. He is a veteran player who is on the other side of 30 so you expect him to have more awareness about identifying blocking schemes and bootlegs.

He does play in a line with some other good people so he hasn't had to do it alone.

Of course he is glad to be on a team with a shot at a super bowl as opposed to Carolina.

Ok i understand that his 8 sacks are more impressive than their other DE who also had 8 sacks because he is getting doubled and chipped all the time but wasn't that also the case in the year when he had 14.5 sacks?

And the article said that he was only 14th in hurries. He is an elite type player he is supposed to get more attention but is still supposed to produce numbers anyway.

He improved the Bears defense simply because he is better than the guy he replaced but that defense is good because they have many very good to elite players like Harris, Urlacher, Briggs. The Bears are a slightly different 4-3 because they seem to do better when they have a big space eating DT who can keep blockers off Urlacker. They have that this year.

It seems from the article they are happy that he didn't come in with his big contract and pull a fat Albert routine. Ok so he is a responsible professional, that is expected.

Julius Peppers is in his own category. DE's aren't suppose to be able to do all he does. I've always wished for a Julius Peppers type.

We could've signed him. Ask Gunny, 30 million dollars is apparently meaningless to anyone with millions, so I see no reason Bud didn't exceed the Bears $42 million guaranteed contract.

lol why? You did say 30 million dollars was immaterial to a multi-millionaire.

    No I didn't.

I said 50 million or 80 million is immaterial and that was in regards to savings and investment. And that is irrelevant to the topic and your point.
