c'mon man. he wasn't any good. he didn't have the fire because Young had stolen all his thunder the moment he was drafted. he begged and cried for a trade and showed little interest in competing because ultimately he knew the job belonged to Young anyways. Titans were just in a tough spot at qb. No doubt Volek would be better than Collins... he just didn't have the stuff to get swept aside for a rookie after all that time. College football is a totally different game. Just ask Vince Young. Besides... it's not like Carr is all that great.

We have a rookie QB who did not come from a traditional drop back offensive background, trying to be a traditional drop back QB. Fitting a square peg in a round hole is not condusive to offensive success.

VY may eventually be a good NFL QB, but there were two others from the same draft class, who will defintely be good NFL QBs, whom were drafted after VY.

Volek isn't stupid. He was told he was the starter, but from the day Vince was drafted it was obvious he was just filling in. No matter what Billy did he wasn't going to get to play much and he knew it. Instead of backing Billy up and trying to get this team competitive again, they decided that Vince looked good enough in camp to go ahead and get him on the field. Using terms like "begged and cried" is juvenile, he simply told them he wanted to be traded since he wasn't going to get a chance to run this team, even though Fisher conned him into believing he was the starter. At least McNair was cut loose early enough to find a team where he could go through training camp and learn the offense. Volek was royally screwed by being put in that position so late in the year.

oh yeah? then why was he untrue in the papers in regards to what was said to Coach Fisher? #1 You don't spit into the wind... #2 you don't tug on Superman's cape. #3 You don't pull the mask off the ole' Lone Ranger and #4 YOU DON'T MESS AROUND WITH FISH! :fish:

It was obvious that he didn't have the metal to compete. That is what he was told he would have to do. Volek shot his rep with the coaching staff. He made his own fate.
That is because Billy wasn't (and I stress this) ANYWHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS HE THOUGHT HE WAS.

They decided that Collins would be just as crap as Volek. It was a turd in either hand. At least Collins offers Vince help. Vince is the man. Billy Volek is nothing more than the San Diego Chargers back-up. Volek thinks he is Drew Brees. Volek's preseason work looked like total crap. Volek also WANTED to leave from the onset... so by your logic the Titans should have a 50 million dollar back-up for a crappy qb that nobody really wants, who doesn't want to be here in the first place?

begged and cried is in fact accurate. Had you read the articles that came here and the ensuing discussion... it is a matter of record that Volek threw what political analysts refer to as a quote "first class hissie" un-quote.
:ha: what? The Ravens could have had them earlier had they paid our asking price but they knew the Titans were going to have a McNair sale...
The Ravens played hard ball. McNair got screwed on that end too.
Volek is a weak girly man with no honor.
He was so full of crap in his post trade remarks. He broke one off in Coach Fisher after Fisher went to bat for him... seriously, Fisher had to do Volek a favor by finding him that job. Volek was an ungrateful little b. :sad2: There were a litany of teams who expressed little or zero interest in him... If Volek was a starter qb who could get it done he would have left the Titans ages ago.
