I'm not surprised. That show has been on for like 15 years.

They make each one of those episodes in a matter of days while hoping something relevant happens in the news. Sometimes nothing happens and they have to go with Plan B. I remember a NASCAR episode a few years ago. That was one truly awful episode.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker don't want to do the show anymore. I think lack of news would be a really bad excuse since there is a lot of material to choose from that they never use. This all falls on those two guys and I remember hearing about them wanting out of their contracts back in 2010. I would be surprised if the show is around by 2015.

I used to love this show, but I stopped following years ago.

The only cartoon I really kept up with was The Simpsons.

Matt and Trey are probably rich beyond their belief. And that they feel as though they want to move on. As South Park has also put Comedy Central on the map!

don't have cable anymore, so I definitely have not seen it in at least 2 years.. used to be consistently funny.

It's just pretty much impossible to have enough material to make consistently funny stuff for over a decade. Overall, they've done pretty well. For awhile there, the newer episodes were funnier than the old. Usually it's a gradual downhill spiral after season 5 or so for a show.

This is actually the 17th season. Hard to believe.

I LOVED the show when it first came out and watched it religiously for probably the first 6 or 7 seasons. I can't really speak to the recent seasons. I don't even know when the last time I watched a "new" episode was.

But yeah, not surprising that it's not so great anymore. 17 years is a LONG time for a single show to be around. At a certain point the writers are just mailing it in and/or they've simply run out of things to do/say. Just look at The Simpsons. That was one of the most brilliant shows of all-time IMO. But it went on, and on, and on (still going on). And now, it's a small fraction of the quality of the early seasons.

I think more often than not you can see a pretty significant drop in quality after about the 4th or 5th season of a show.

Stars get bigger paychecks, which equals bigger egos, which equals lack of chemistry in the cast.. which equals sucky show. it happens way too often.. even with great shows. At least with one of my favorite shows, Roseanne, it didn't get really bad until the very last season.. but when it got bad.. it REALLY got bad.

but the funniest thing is when actors leave shows for the "big screen," then are rarely ever heard from again.

The episode of Ike was probably top 10 funniest all time, IMO

Ike was funny but the scenes on Intelilink were classic.
