Really bad headline. I read the whole article and there is nothing in there that remotely points to alcohol ruining his career.

And then there’s Josh Gordon.. Getting absolutely smashed before games drinking whiskey & smoking weed and still managing to put up silly numbers while half in the bag...

Great article, great read. Locker may have been a bust but I never hated the guy. He always seemed like he gave it everything he had. He had 3 OC's in 4 years and had to deal with Whisenhunt. I'm glad he seems happy now.

I have to bring this up though, this quote from Hasselbeck really stood out to me:

Hasselbeck says his friend got “a raw deal. Just a terrible situation. So many coaches [three coordinators in four years]. You never knew who was in charge. The coach? The general manager? The owner? That organization was really bizarre, and so far behind in terms of nutrition and everything else.” (The Titans declined to comment.)

I know the ownership and GM are in much better shape than when Jake was here, but it made me wonder about the other stuff "nutrition and everything else."

There are tons of guys like this.

We might pretend everyone wants to be in the NFL, but lots of people do not like it once they get there.

The article specifically says though that he was never an alcoholic, just used it to cope. The title of the thread leads one to believe that he drank so much he had to quit football. I would argue that Jake isn't ruined and never has been. Just didn't want to keep playing football because he was unhappy.
