Didn't see this coming but I guess he was "relieved" of his duties.


After 21 years with the organization.

 

This has to be the best week of Al Davis' life.

Mike Shanahan, the second longest-tenured NFL coach, was fired by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday after the team lost a three-game lead with three games to go in the AFC West. Shanahan, 56, coached the Broncos since 1995, behind only Tennessee's Jeff Fisher in tenure with one team. He led the Broncos to consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1998 and 1999 and compiled a record of 146-89 with the team.

Kind of a surprise, but really what has he done since he lost John Elway???

In his defense, though, he really was snakebit this year with their cavalcade of RB injuries. How many teams can have 7 RBs go on IR and still win 8 games?

I bet he ends up getting hired by another team as a head coach (but not with GM-like duties). Unless he wants a year off, that is...

 

I'm not surprised, he hasn't done much lately.

But I think he gets a HC gig elsewhere if he wants it.

 

Here's to hoping Dinger isn't on their list.
