With Peppers being tagged at 16+mil and Asomugha being signed to a 3 years contract potentially worth $50mil...that's $16.67mil for those without calculators...Haynesworth will have to decide between potentially becoming the highest paid player in the NFL and staying in Tenn for a significant contract...but ultimately a lot less. Assuming the Titans best offer is in the 12-13mil/yr range...that is a significant difference in paycheck. On the other hand, he likes it here and currently would be the highest paid DL in the league.

If indeed this is the Titans best offer, they may have been better suited trying to blow him away early (making him the highest paid defensive player) before 2 players sign for about 30% MORE than that. Still...who knew the Raiders would make the Redskins look like penny pinchers!!!

How do I become a Raider? They are just GIVING money away!!! Asomugha's contract has the first 2 years guaranteed (28.5mil). So if he reaches his incentives to get 50mil total, the third year cap hit would go from 16.5mil to an even crazier 21.5mil cap hit. Guess he'll get cut after 2 more years...but they also gave Lechler the richest contract for a punter in history. Get this...$16mil for 4 years with 9MILLION GUARANTEED!!!

    Insanity!

PS - MR better be thinking about a final offer to AH and start breaking out Plan B and C!

No way haynesworth is worth $16M a year.

Yes al davis is nuts but my guess is that he is getting real desperate for a winner but geez way too extreme!

I'm wondering what the market value is for rocky bernard the 2nd best FA DT. Bernard came into the league the same year as AH, has played and has played more games, had more tackles and more sacks. $7.5M?

IMO MR blew it because the Titans should have taken Allen's contract and added a few dollars to it the day after the season ended and offered it to AH. Some of this for AH is about respect but what could he say if the Titans ponied up right after the season with the biggest contract at the time? He might have jumped on it. For all we know AH might still take that kind of deal but he is going to put himself up for bid and make every body sweat on the Titan's side. Besides, in a few years Allen's contract will look puny compared to some of the ridiculous contracts coming up.
