It appears to me that all the Titans need to do by March 3rd is deal with the McNair situation and they will be under the cap, even if they only exercise the 1M bonus that locks him up for 2006 only. Is this correct?

I read somewhere that the Titans currently stand at $95M total salary for 2006, which includes the prorated portion on the $50M bonus that we all know McNair will not get. Does anyone know what the salary cap in 2006 is? Thanks....

The cap is expected to be from 93-95 mil, but they haven't said yet. I would tend to think it would be towards the higher end because I would think that some of the new TV contract money would start to kick in soon.

The question in terms of what moves need to be made before March 3 is when are all the option bonuses due for Henry, Sirmon...

i heard that if they (teams/union) can't come to terms on a new CBA then the 2006 season would NOT have a cap at all. ?

2006 is a capped yr for sure. The CBA runs out after 2006 and so 2007 could be an uncapped yr which wouldn't be too bad for the Titans because most of our guys will be under contract. I think Bennett would be the only UFA. Because guys like Brown and Calico would not become UFA next yr if it is uncapped because they will not have accrued 5 yrs.

I believe that 2006 falls under the current CBA, and that 2007 would be uncapped in the absence of a new CBA.

Honestly, I'm not all that worried about the CBA, any more than I'm worried about McNair's $50 million bonus. The bottom line is, something will have to be done. An uncapped year would be absolutely disastrous for the league, and the effects would be felt for years.

The NFLPA has threatened to go to court if there are no advancements made in the CBA.
2007 is an upcapped year and they wanted to get the deal done in time so 2007 will have a cap

well, if Bud wants to pay Steve that money then an uncapped year would be the time to do it
