let me take my last statement one step further
Rush is one of the best bands of all time
and arguably the best 3 piece band ever
(even though I never thought of Alex being one of the best guitarists)

Unfortunately. the best band of all time has the worst engineers and CD duplicators. Rush In Rio was absolutely unlistenable, and every disc I've owned from Mercury skips at the third playing.

As a band, they're great; but their business end sucks.

BTW...Neil peart sent me a postcard in 1982. That was cool.

avvie, I read alot of comparisons to the R30 DVD and the Rush in Rio DVD (whereas the crowd noise seemed to be of more importance than the artists) - not so with this one

you hardly hear the crowd at all in this one

I saw Rusk in concert in Hollywood, Florida back in 1982 while on Sproing Break. The sond was incredible-three men making such deep rich music. Alex Lifeson is one of my favorite guitarists.

the difference is there are 8 songs on Rio not on R30
and I was liike ...."please don't let one of 'em be .... !)
and then to find out it's on neither one of them
that song - Passage to Bangkok
why the hell would they not do PtB ?

The return of By-Tor And The Snow Dog is a trip.

My buddy Brian called me once a coupla years ago...he was at the Rush rehearsals before their tour started. He said it was like seeing the Emperor with no clothes. :ha: Not a smack to Rush, but it's useful to know that even the best become humbled by inaction. He said he felt like offering to play in Alex's place to help them get through a couple of them :ha:
