Realistically, say the Titans want to lock up Al, Roos, Stewart, Scaife and Bironas to long-term deals. We all know Al and Roos will be huge.

What kind of cap hit are we talking about if we went into the '08 season with all of them completed? I could see Al's costing almost as much as his franchise number or more depending on how they work the bonus. Roos will be even higher than his tender offer, won't it?

I'm seeing a big chunk of that $25M of cap space dwindling quickly.

Anyone laughing at the irony of that last statement. Sorry Gloat, I just had to :ha:

I stopped reading after the 'has he made a pro bowl' question.

Well first off, I wouldn't judge much by pro bowl. It may represent how good a player is, or it may not. He doesn't whiff on much. Sure we can draft a huge guy....doesn't mean he's athletic enough to play LT. And why do you think he doesn't know much about football? I remember something awhile back said by Mawae about how Roos was seeing things on the field the QB didn't see.

Right now in the league, he may be in the top 5 or close. Even guys that may have been better are heading off into the sunset. Ogden is over the hill. Roaf and Glenn are retired. Flo Adams is not as good a pass blocker as Roos imo. Pace is old and oft injured. Walter Jones is mid 30's as is Tra Thomas. Light and McNeil aren't as good imo.

I don't think Roos is the really strong run blocker like many of the best LT's of late, but he's very good as a pass blocker. Protecting the QB is most important. I think his game is similar to Hopkins. And I also think we should use some of these cap dollars now to lock up core players like this.

I think we will see it happening once we are done with Free Agency (if not done already)

Yep it seems all a part of "the plan".

  9. It all depends on how they want to do it. They can either give guys the standard signing bonus and base salaries (which would make the cap hits cheap this year) or they could frontload them to save cap space later.

It doesn't make much sense not to use basically all our cap space this year (with enough left over for injury replacements). They can frontload either Haynesworth or Roos to make that happen because both will get at least $15M guaranteed in a new deal.

Roos should have been signed last offseason IMO
