He played with Zorn back in those early Seahawk days, didn't he?

Smith to Interview for Redskins OC Position

SUMMARY: Titans RB Coach Sherman Smith will interview soon for the offensive coordinator positions with the Redskins. Smith was a teammate of new Redskins HC Jim Zorn when both played with the expansion Seattle Seahawks in the late ’70s and early ’80s, Zorn as QB and Smith as RB. The two have remained close friends since their playing days. The Titans have given Smith permission to interview for the position. "I talked to Jeff [Fisher] about it, and gave me permission to go up there and talk to them," Smith said. "He said, ‘You owe it to yourself to go and take a look. That’s the business. I know Jim, and he’s going to be a good head coach, and out of respect for our friendship, I think I owe it to myself and to him to take a look."

So i guess ushering at Zorn's wedding did finally pay off..

I might not know too much about the guy, but results speak for themselves. Sometimes you don't know what you have until its gone, and we did have a good stretch of rushing seasons while Sherman was here. We established consistency in that dept, and I really would like to see him stay.

I guess when he's gone that would create an opening at the assistant head coach position which I'm willing to bet that Schwartz would take over considering the man crush Jeff has on him.

This will be interesting for Chris Henry.

IIRC, Sherman Smith was the guy who lobbied very hard for Chris Henry last draft. If he is no longer around, it will be interesting to see whether or not Henry's role in the offense changes as a result.

If he was big in lobbying for Chris Henry, I'm not upset to see him go. The rushing game has been very mediocre the last few seasons anyway, and an RB coach isn't something that is hard to replace.
