Did you watch the video. That’s besides the point. There was a hands to the face and a holding on that play by the saints

That doesn’t look like he tipped it. There is zero change of trajectory or rotation of the ball. More like he froze the play when the ball was sailing passed his hand even though a different 90 degree angle might show he was still a distance away from the ball.

Ball does seem to start wobbling

Either way there were multiple offensive penalties on that play

I didn’t think so and it took too long for a video to surface plus it’s from a rams player. For example, the bears/eagles kick was out less than 24 hours later.

Regardless, I’m not one who believes the game actually hinges on that play. I’m sure there were penalties missed throughout the game for both teams. Refs have a thankless job. I’ve never heard anyone compliment a game the refs had, only super microanalyzed.
In general, I think the refs do ok. NFL made the right move hiring full time refs, they just need to work on some of the rules or the way they’re written.

While you sort of make a point that it is a thankless job, I have, and have heard other people say refs called a good game. Usually means there were few penalties and they let them play, and there weren't any bad misses. It's not common, but it happens.

I think the best we can ask for is just consistency. They will never be perfect but the rule interpretations could help make refs jobs a little easier.

I don’t like that fans can pinpoint bad crews vs others. If fans can then I’m sure the NFL can recognize that. That’s something they should be changing.
I’ll also give benefit that just like some players have a good or bad week, refs are entitled to the same treatment in that regard.

No, it’s called chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
It was a long tough career Dan. No shame in it and thank you for getting the Oilers close. Ironically in this thread pulling up the Renfro TD seems fitting.
