He really cranked up his play at the end of the season against the toughest competition, and was perceived to have the football IQ and discipline for the learning process to be expedited. I recall Dick saying he made the quickest transition of any DE he's had to OLB. I don't put a lot of stock in compliments these coaches have for their players, but he doesn't really seem like someone who cares that much about sparing people's feelings.

Yea he was out of shape tho as well for pretty much the whole year. That foot injury is likely to linger.

I'm wondering if JROB figured he could take a wild card with one of 3 2nd round picks - that being Kevin Dodd... Not necessarily 'waste' - but put the gambling chips on one.

And that gamble proved very, very effective when Dodd was on the field - the only question now is if the injury is in the past and is he 'about ready' to assume Morgan's role.. (at the very least, fresh rotation of 98 and 91)

If anyone is pissing it's you haha, no need to get butt hurt when called out. You brought up that coaches could have influenced the pick, so yeah.

Every pick has some sort of influence. In JRobs case it appears he is often swayed by experience. You apparently can't see that.

Morgan missed his rookie season with an injury and has turned out to be a solid player. Dodd definitely has the tools to play at this level, I think it's silly that anyone writes him off already. It all depends on how he comes back from this injury.

Then why would he "sway" away from his ways so many times? If that is truly his model he's not wasting 1st and 2nd round picks on guys with "potential", save that for your late round guys like Brown and Wallace.

I'm talking about Dodd and Jackson, because those are early round picks that went against JRob model. You have yet to build a case for Jackson, other then pointing out he was a three year starter on a USC team with little Cornerback talent. If his model was production and experience your not taking chances on 1st and 2nd round players. Your argument is to blame scouts or coaching for "swaying" him against his ways. Hey JRob I have a great deal on a timeshare!
