which is better graphics wise and why?

i think PS3 has better graphics,

and xbox 360 wins in everyother catagory,

but the 360 is based on online play, and its $60 a year, PS3 is free online, so which is better?

Someone once told me there was a video game forum around here

Better? Very subjective there. I have the 360 and probably will own the PS3 one day too.

my mistake for not putting it in the video game thread.

W/o Gunny here, you might not get all the PS3 propaganda you'll need to push a PS3 sale. But Puck seems to like both systems, and may tell you it's a tough choice. If I thought I'd only ever have one or the other, I'd base the choice mostly on which has a better library of games for me.

That's the same with me. I know the PS3 is supposed to be superior hardware (blu ray, etc.), but until it gets the selection of games that the XBOX 360 has, it just doesn't compare in my opinion. That being said, once there's another price cut on the PS3, i'll probably buy one.

    and you're right Bobo
    it's a tough call

technically, the Ps3 is "supposed" to be a more powerful system
but some claims from developers are to the contrary
as far as QC (quality control) is concerned, Sony wins in spades
as far as playability is concerned, I'd give it to the Xbox

I do like them both - but for different reasons

I like the Playstation Store better than the Live Marketplace, because it's more accessible and is based on real $ amounts and not dorky 'points'
but the the selection of games is few and far between ,there's maybe a dozen or so .. on Live there's many many more
the online service is free, but is a far cry from LIVE - i've heard that finding and joining games via PSonline is slightly less friendly
    - very slim selection of titles to play
    - many cross platform games actually perform better on 360
    - developers claim difficutly writing code
    +Blu-Ray is awesome

+Bioshock, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo 3
+tons of downloadable content on Live
    +steady stream of good games
+ports arrive on 360 weeks ahead of ps3
    +generous warranty
    - stability concerns are rampant
    - fan is noisy
    - runs hot - even with external power supply

it's probably a wash here, but I've noticed framerate issues and screen roll in several games on the ps3. many head to head reviews actually give the nod to the 360

I'm gonna give this to the Ps3
take the 360 and add an HD-DVD drive and your spending more
the 80gb Ps3 with included Blu_Ray is quite a bargain really, to bad there's hardly anything worth playing at the moment

if I only had the money for one and my focus was on casual gaming and frequent Hi-Def DVD watching, I'd go with the Ps3

if my focus was more on gaming, the 360 gets my vote unquestioned

At this point, graphics are a wash; some games look better on PS3, some on 360. The PS3 is a more powerful piece of hardware, but developers are having issues developing for it. PS3 should be graphically superior in 2-3 years I'd say, when the learning curve for developers has swung.

ps3's don't commit suicide. that's good enough for me.

    360. Easy choice I've played both and 360 is just better.
