I would agree that he has been made the poster boy. I personally don't think that can suspend someone under new rules when the rules weren't in effect when he did the actions. I think that the suspension will get lifted to only a few games before the season starts.

Then we just gotta hope he doesn't go to jail.....

Just when I start to think he can't be as stupid as I believe he is...

Guess he's thinking about how empty his life will be by missing 40 or so chances to Make It Rain.

Posts like this are boring to read and respond to ...especially when posted only in an attempt to incite others to strictly react to such drivel.:grrhee:

If he thinks he has a case for an appeal then he deserves the right to do it. What will come of it I dont know, especially since the union appeared to be for a harsh punishment. But, he certainly deserves the right to appeal.

    guess it worked huh? lol

My point is he is about to lose $3m and it costs him about $80k to Make It Rain so I am making a joke at his expense by stating he will be missing 40 or so chances to Make It Rain, which apparently is a motovaing factor in his life.

Any joke that has too be explained is probably not a very good joke, thanks for being the comedy cop.

He didn't get suspended under the new rules... he got suspended under the old ones. Jones didn't get suspended for any charges... he got suspended for " Engaging in conduct detrimental to the NFL " regardless if he was charged with anything ( Old rule ). Depending on what happens with the Felony charges in Las Vegas, Atlanta and the probation violation in Tennessee... it could be longer than a year.

Here's a paragraph from the actual NFL Personal Conduct Policy...

-Upon learning of conduct that may give rise to discipline, the League will direct an investigation, which may include interviews and information gathering from medical, law enforcement, and other relevant professionals. The League will promptly advise the NFLPA of any investigation of a player, as well as of the results of the investigation. As appropriate, the employee will also have the opportunity, represented by counsel and/or a union official, to address the conduct at issue. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the Commissioner will have full authority to impose discipline as warranted. Discipline may take the form of fines, suspension, or banishment from the League and may include a probationary period and conditions that must be satisfied prior to or following reinstatement. The specifics of the disciplinary response will be based on the nature of the incident, the actual or threatened risk to the participant and others, any prior or additional misconduct (whether or not criminal charges were filed), and other relevant factors.
